pick from kt, easter pt1

Hey all, been a while since my last update and much has happened in this past week. So I guess I’ll be doing a harry-potter-7 and split this week into two posts.

Ok, so this was easter weekend. But before I convey what an awesome time I had at OCF Easter Camp Victoria 08, I reckon I should start with the fantastic KT TUNSTALL concert I went to on thusday night, the eve of camp.

One word to summarize: pure AWESOME! I was so happy to know that KT has decided to add a show in Victoria. Jason and I were so psyched to hear the good news! Seeing that there was no way we could have caught the one in Singapore. Haha, but one confession to make, I don’t really follow her music… but but, I really do like her stuff. Okok, so the whole thing went down starting with a HUH?!

Ok, so the deal was, we were desperately trying to get to the venue via tram but somehow, the friggin tram went another route and we had to scurry to find a cab to drive us to St. Kilda which cost friggin 16 bucks. Yup, next is the HUH?! part. We arrived at the Princes Ballroom at 7pm sharp, expecting to see a long queue and anticipating a feeling of great remorse for not being early. But, HUH?! happened, there was no queue in sight. We even contemplating the idea that we were at the wrong place. I mean, its KT tunstall, miss suddenly-i-see. There should be a queue but here wasn’t. Anyways to skip all unnecessary details and jump to the best part, we got in really fast and guess who was so near that she sat on the speakers in front. That would be moi, we were so first-rowed that I jumped on top of the speakers in front and sat while waiting. During the first half hour of wait, there were only visibly, barely three rows. It was kinda shocking to see so little people turn up. Oh well, the smaller the better, more intimate! I was so near the stage that, if I wanted to, I could easily reach out and touch their mikes or pedal board, not to mention, grab the set list.

Anyways, KT was absolutely charming, friggin-ass cool and a tremendously seasoned performer. She did around 18 songs, which were basically almost everything from eye to the telescope and drastic fantastic. Man, I really fell in love with her songs. So original and creative! The best thing about being first-rowed is you get to see all the weird and funny stuff they do on stage. Like the funny thing she did with her feet and like notice how she uses the pedal box that controls and replays her sounds by echos. If you don’t know how KT echos, go youtube like some video of her doing The black horse and cherry tree. Omgosh, then she played my favouritest song, suddenly I see. It was so good, her sparkly guitar and echos and etc. Pure music heaven. YEAH! And I’m super stoked to find someone on youtube who recorded the whole concert and posted it online! Whoooo for that and for the super hi def pictures Jason took with his slr. Gosh, it was such a great concert, even the opening act was crazy good. You guys should check Newton Faulkner out if you like KT Tunstall and that kinda music, a little indie, creative and acoustic style.

Although she's not really that stunningly beautiful, she was really cool, like super cool. Favourite fun song of the night was "Walk like an Egyptian" cover, I'll post the really good photo my brother snapped of her doing the egyptian walk.

But, the BEST and most memorable part of the evening that trumps first-rowed seats was KT's pick! Whoo, I managed to get hold of one! Wheet for me.
Alrighty, its getting quite late and I have a 9am lecture tomorrow, til part two
au revoir!
